The General medicine is a medical specialty that provides sustainable monitoring, wellness and general primary medical care, not limited to groups of diseases within a particular organ, age, or gender.

The General Practitioner (also known as General Practitioner or Family doctor) is therefore often consulted to diagnose symptoms before treating the disease or to refer the patient to another specialist.

In most cases, the Attending physician of a person is a general practitioner.

Wonca Europe (World Family doctors, caring for People) defines the General Medicine/Family Medicine as a scientific and academic discipline, with its own specific content of training, research, clinical practice, and its own scientific basis. It is a clinical specialty oriented towards primary care. The term Family medicine has been defined as a synonym for General medicine.

The First resort Doctor is a physician who can give an answer for 90% of patients, in 90% of situations and 90% of the time.

In the event of a health problem, first-aid doctors are the first interlocutors. We ensure that we keep track of the care of patients and, if necessary, we send them to the appropriate specialist.

What skills are essential for practice? : "Extensive basic knowledge in medicine, social skills and skills in management and health economics as well as in Insurance Law" (PRIMARYCARE – the Swiss Journal of first-resort physicians 2015; 15 (5): 78 – 79). But not only.
